How Strong Quality Processes Help CorrBoard Deliver On Time, In Full and At Quality
For CorrBoard, delivering on time, in full, and to the right quality standard is supported by structured procedures that monitor every stage of the manufacturing process. From incoming materials to final dispatch, this attention to detail ensures that every sheet of board delivers consistency for our customers.
Caroline Donson, Quality Assurance Manager, comments:
“Our core processes start with incoming material checks. When paper reels arrive, we confirm the grade, labels, and quantity before they even reach the line. This ensures we’re working with the right material from the very beginning. As the board moves through production, we continue monitoring calliper, moisture, and visual quality, and we continue lab tests to verify strength and consistency.”
Lab testing plays a huge role in CorrBoard’s quality assurance. Caroline continues:
“We conduct random lab tests of different grades of board. We check ECT for strength, calliper to ensure the board hasn’t been crushed, and moisture content. For trials or new grades, we test periodically to confirm they meet specifications. This ensures the finished product matches what the customer expects.”
Key Systems and Checkpoints
Digital systems support these processes, recoding every measurement and check. Caroline highlights how this delivers consistency:
“Our Quality Management System (QMS) captures all production measurements, such as width, length, grade, and calliper, so if a customer reports an issue, we can trace it back to the exact stage it occurred.
“On the line, checks continue from wet end to dry end, all the way through to palletisation. Every operator, from shopfloor workers to forklift drivers, communicate potential issues in real time, preventing errors from progressing.”
Issues are identified and addressed quickly through a combination of digital systems, and clear guidance. Caroline explains:
“All areas of the business have quality boards that show tolerances, how to carry out warp checks, and instructions for correct load building. This helps the team and operators to identify out-of-spec’ material and take the right action to get it right. Posters and updated visuals highlight these procedures, so nothing is left to guesswork.”
Customer Benefit
For customers, having these processes in place means reliability and confidence. Caroline comments:
“With all the right checks in place, our customers know they are receiving exactly what they ordered, on time and at the right quality. Even if a complaint is made, we will be able to demonstrate full traceability through our systems, showing exactly where an issue occurred and how it was resolved.”
Continuous Improvement
CorrBoard continually strengthens its processes to maintain these high standards. Caroline explains:
“We’ve recently upgraded our QMS to AFP Big Green Compliance, are in the process of training more people across different shifts in lab methods and are also investing in ISO 9001:2015 training.
“We also provide internal auditors and shopfloor training to make sure everyone understands quality from incoming to outgoing products. These enhancements have improved consistency, reduced errors, and increased confidence in what we deliver.”
Through these structured quality processes, combined with thorough lab testing, digital tracking, and continuous improvement, CorrBoard ensures that every customer receives board that meets standards on time, in full and at quality.
